How do I register my property with The Modern Location?

In order for us to decide whether your property is suitable for registration with us, we will need to see some photographs. Please email some images and a short description to info@themodernlocation.net. Alternatively, please call us on 0845 050 8435. Once we have agreed to take on your property, all you will need to do is sign a copy of our Terms of Business.

What is your commission?

Our standard commission is 20% of the location fee, plus VAT. If you instruct us as sole agents, this fee is reduced to 15% plus VAT.

What is the standard day rate for renting out my property as a location?

Fees vary hugely depending on the nature and scale of the shoot. As a very rough guide, you can expect to receive around £500 per day for editorial, £1,000 per day for advertising / advertorial, and in excess of £1,000 per day for TV and film.

How many bookings will I get?

We will always strive to get as much work as possible at your location. However, there are no guarantees! Properties in London will invariably be booked more often than those in other areas. It will also depend on how ‘shoot-friendly’ you set your location up to be.

What do I need to do on the day of a shoot?

Someone must be present on the day(s) of the shoot to allow access to the property. The property must be as clean and tidy as possible. You will also be expected to provide light refreshments. If you offer a good service then your location is likely to be used more often!

What do I need to do before a shoot?

Occasionally equipment, props etc. will be dropped off at a property in advance of a shoot. Someone must be present to take delivery of these (it would be useful to have some designated storage space at the property for this purpose). It is also worth noting that properties are generally inspected by prospective bookers before the bookings are confirmed. This is usually in order to assess measurements, access etc.

What are the hours of a shoot day?

A standard shoot day is 9am-6pm. Overtime is considered to be anything after 6pm, and is charged at double the normal rate.
